FIA Oakland’s 2025 Raise The Bar Awards is TOMORROW!

Families in Action for Quality Education invites you to join us on Thursday, September 18 at 6:00 PM at Aspire Golden State College Preparatory Academy (📍1009 66th Ave, Oakland, CA 94621) as FIA honors the Oakland schools that are Raising the Bar for student success!

This exciting event will celebrate academic excellence, equity, and family partnership in Oakland’s public high schools. We’ll be recognizing schools that are:

• Excelling in Math and ELA Proficiency for Black and Latinx students
• Demonstrating big growth in ELA or Math Proficiency +10%
• Achieving 80%+ A-G completion for Black and Latinx students
• Attaining a 20%+ increase in A-G completion rates

This year 41 schools, a 24% jump from last year, will receive awards for the following amazing milestones.

We will celebrate 2024 A-G college eligibility for High Schools:

• Schools where 80%+ Black/African American students completed A-G
• Schools where 80%+ Latinx students completed A-G
• Schools with dramatic improvement (20%+) in A-G completion

We will celebrate academic achievement and growth categories for K-12 schools:

• Schools meeting the CA Dashboard Standard in ELA for Black students  
• Schools meeting the CA Dashboard Standard in ELA for Latinx students  
• Schools with double digit improvement in ELA AND overall proficiency of 30%+
• Schools meeting the CA Dashboard Standard in Math for Black students  
• Schools meeting the CA Dashboard Standard in Math for Latinx students  
• Schools with double digit improvement in Math AND overall proficiency of 30%+

We will also be celebrating schools that are partnering with families to Raise the Bar.  

• K-8 schools that are Raising the Bar by 1) sharing school data with all families, 2) sharing individual data with each parent and 3) making sure every parent knows how to help their kids at home to help get them to grade level.  
• 9-12 schools that are Raising the Bar by 1) partnering with FIA to share A-G information with students and parents to increase their agency and college eligibility.

We’ll also feature appearances by student leaders from Energy Convertors, special guests, and a free dinner for all attendees!  Dinner is served at 5:30pm.
